Rehearsals
Rehearsals, for me, were the hardest part of the play. Every time we had our play practices, I am tasked to help our director to facilitate our actresses and production crew. Our director was having a major role on our play so she cannot concentrate on her responsibilities. As her assistant, I am in-charge of whatever the thing she cannot cope up with. So all the dilemmas of our actresses and production crew are consulted to me. At first, I wasn't really sure if I can do these things; be a leader, consultant, and a coach. In our class, I am the not-so-serious-one type of person. I go for stupidity and when it comes to exams, "Survival" is the word for me. I didn't expect these kinds of responsibilities relied on a clumsy Justine. But I surprised myself, I felt conscientious not only to myself anymore but now, to my whole class. I felt like being liable of what will be the class' outcome on our play fest.
Being in-charged facilitator of year two Saint Anne is hard. You have to scream your throat out so that everyone will listen to you. I remember one time I almost passed out after a tiring rehearsal.
But all of these are worthy if you'll see the outcome of your sacrifices. It feels great to work hard for something and you'll be given an award for doing so.
Auditions
As the assistant director, I helped facilitating the auditions. Our CAE Auditions started off with Shakuntala, our lead role. Many auditioned for the role. Random people from our class surprised me with their 'hidden' talents. As a matter of fact, I never knew that many in our class can act very well.
So, the auditions went on until the last minor character. After the auditions,I can say our section is filled with great actresses that I am confused who is the best among all of them.
Our deliberation was a little bit tardy. We weren't able to deliberate due to the family day. So we just decided to do it on Facebook. We formed a group for a conference on chat and did the deliberation of each character. The deliberation went smoothly. It took us a long time to decide who were the ones to act on each role. Everyone was giving their own opinions and perspectives on who should be chosen on particular characters. The brainstorming went on for two hours.

PREPARATIONS. [Late Blog Update for Play Fest]
PREPARATIONS:
For me,the preparations for our Play Fest '10 started off with the workshop I attended to. I have attended the BITAW classes facilitated by Ms. Joanne Paulette Liboon before our third quarter began. Me and some of my schoolmates were able to learn new things regarding Theater. Our facilitator was so passionate on this field that she became a director of her own play and was able to bring us to her production, the "Cafe Shakespeare".
Our play was stormed by the incredible brain of our Biology facilitator, Mrs. Rhodora Clement. She suggested the Indian story of "Shakuntala" which is one of the works of Kalidasa.
Furthermore, luckily, I got a slot on the Teatro Club facilitated by our own CAE moderator, Mr. Jomel Guintivano. We had activities that has enhanced and broaden our minds in the Theater world. We did radio plays, some other stuffs.
As part of the preparations, Sir Guintivano made us choose our Production Crew. After a long decision, I ended up as the Assistant Director. It was unexpected for me. I only had a minor role for our play when I was a freshman. This unexpected decision was made possible by the BITAW class experience requirement that only me and my other two classmates have.

Play Update4; VICTORY!

Play fest 2010 was a success not only to the winners but of course to everyone.
As for our section, year two St. Anne, we won for both plays!- CAE and CAF. Our teamwork, sacrifices, sweat and time were all paid off by our victory. Our section was pressured for we know that last year's batch for St. Anne also won grand slam. So, the tension was all on us. Actually, these things were all unexpected. We were like " oh it's so gonna be the Elizabeth or the Catherine" during the awarding. "BUT" it was proven wrong by the word "BUT" because Miss Sardua was like "If you won the best directors award (which we got), it doesn't mean that you'll win the best play award.. BUT for the year two." And we were like "Oh my, we did it." :O
Anyway, congratulations to everybody!
'til my next post
